Establishing Methods to Clarify Seismic Resistance of Structures Using Strong Earthquake Response Simulator

During the 1995 Kobe earthquake, there were severe damage to structures in a broad region of the Hanshin area. The damage warned that earthquake response should be investigated in detail for newly built buildings in order to establish design methods with high credibility and also develop a method to evaluate, renovate, and reinforce existing structures.
SERS is a device developed with latest technology and was constructed in DPRI of Kyoto University in the fiscal year of 1995 in order to accomplish these experimental researches.
